Therefore, according to his revelation, the Lord Jesus Himself has to give a specially quickened (by Him) “rhema word” before the believer can actually “hear” and receive the promise of God’s Word. His basis of this revelation was that God had shown him that in Romans 10:17, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God,” the word “God” in the verse was actually the Greek word “Christos,” meaning Christ Jesus Himself. Hearing the Word of God, alone, was not enough to produce faith in their hearts and bring any potential manifestation in their life. He said that without a “special quickened word” from the Lord Jesus Himself, their attempt at faith was presumption, and could not produce faith. He preached that God had revealed to him the reason so many WOF believers were unable to see the manifestation of their faith was because they were just believing the written Word of God without any special “rhema word” directly from the Lord Jesus concerning the scriptures they were believing and confessing. It became more controversial this week when on a weekly webinar under our ministry covering, a video was shown, whereby a popular WOF teacher, speaking at a WOF convention, told the audience that he had just received a new revelation concerning “a rhema word.” Convincing them that they were hearing something brand new from the Holy Spirit, he spent over an hour unfolding his new revelation. With its adherents unable to go to the scriptures to find it, when it is taught there is a heavy reliance on personal special revelations from God to explain its meaning.

It’s initial origin is unknown, but is now accepted in many circles as a bonified unquestioned truth. The term has developed within our ranks in the charismatic and Word of Faith Community, a “rhema word” carries the general meaning of a special “quickened word” from the Lord Jesus.
A RHEMA WORD SERIES
Pickney takes time out from his current series of teachings to deal this week with some controversy regarding a modern, yet unbiblical term called, “a rhema word.” Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.Dr. Matthew 11:20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.įollowing His Resurrection, upon opening His disciples' understanding, Jesus's instruction was once more and again. I don't care how long you've been saved, and I know the scripture that says "the just need not repent " but if you're sinning against God or man, from the church-house to the jail-house, repentance is necessary If there is no turning, there is no repentance, and without repentance, therefore no forgiveness. True repentance is not just an apology to God, but first a sincere heart-felt acknowledgement (confession), and most importantly a turning away from sin (stop doing wrong). Matthew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, " Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."Ģ Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation Would anyone dare to accuse Jesus of ever speaking anything other than Rhema? The Rhema in such prophecy is the opportunity to Repent. Those people miss not only the Rhema in the Word, but the very opportunity to grab hold to the everlasting LIFE which it offers. Unfortunately many people are of the misperception that prophecy concerning God's wrath is not only negative, but is somehow demonically inclined. A Rhema Word is defined as a life giving Word which comes from God.
